Local rural fire departments were busy after four separate incidents required their attention this morning.
RCMP confirm that three semi’s were involved in three separate incidents near the Lea Park Bridge, with the first one occurring at 6:09 a.m.
“RCMP received a call for a semi which was in the ditch on highway 897 near Range Road 542. We then received calls for a second semi in the ditch, but blocking the roadway in the same area,” stated “K” division public information officer. ” A third call came in stating another semi, heading southbound, lost control and struck a pick-up truck in the same area.”
The first semi was a Peterbilt, it was not hauling any hazardous material. The second was a Kenworth and a Freightliner struck the pick-up truck.
There were reports of minor injuries.
County of Vermilion River – Protective Services confirmed in a social media post that both Marwayne Fire Department and Dewberry Fire and Rescue were also dispatched to the scene this morning. They provided traffic control as patient care upon arrival.
There is no word on the cause of these incidents.

Lone Rock Rollover
At approximately 8 a.m. this morning, Legacy Regional Protective Services were dispatched to Township Road 472 just east of Lone Rock for reports of a rollover with possible entrapment.
Upon arrival, Dean Peters advised the individual was out of the vehicle, and roadways in the area were extremely slippery.
He reported minor injuries to the one occupant.
