RCMP have charged an Onion Lake man is facing after allegedly fleeing police on a stolen dirt bike following a disturbance call earlier this week.
On March 31 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Onion Lake RCMP were called to a disturbance outside a residence on Sesame Street.
Officers determined two males had approached the home, with one striking the door and shouting at occupants inside. Police say the suspects did not enter the residence and left the area shortly after, with one departing on a dirt bike.
RCMP later located a male on a dirt bike matching the suspect description and attempted a traffic stop. Police say the rider failed to stop and fled down a path not accessible by vehicle.
Officers discontinued the pursuit and continued patrols in the area.
Later that afternoon, RCMP located a dirt bike abandoned in a ditch. Investigation confirmed it had been reported stolen from Mervin, Sask. The bike was seized.
As a result of continued investigation, officers arrested a suspect at a residence in Onion Lake the following morning.
Kendall Cardinal, 26, of Onion Lake, is charged with:
- Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
- Flight from a peace officer
- Resisting or obstructing a peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Cardinal was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Loon Lake RCMP.
He appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on April 2 and was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 8 in Lloydminster.
