One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a collision on Highway 28 (May 14) near Cold Lake Thursday afternoon.
Cold Lake RCMP responded to the crash near Range Road 433. Cpl. Teri-Ann Bakker, K Division public information officer, confirmed the fatality and serious in a media update.
“Preliminary investigation determined a head-on collision occurred on Highway 28 near Range Road 433 between two trucks, a pickup truck, and a commercial truck. The 51-year-old, male resident of Cold Lake and sole occupant of the pickup truck, was declared deceased on scene,” stated Bakker. “The 57-year-old male driver and sole occupant of commercial truck was transported by ground ambulance to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving medical care.”
Cold Lake RCMP were assisted by Alberta RCMP Real Time Operation Centre, an RCMP Collision Analyst, Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, Associated Ambulance (Bonnyville), and Child and Family Services.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
