Cold Lake RCMP have charged a 27-year-old man with attempted murder following a targeted shooting earlier this month.
Police said the incident happened on Nov. 8. Officers arrested James Robert Lees on Nov. 14 after what they described as an extensive investigation involving the Cold Lake RCMP detachment, the General Investigation Section, Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit and the St. Paul Forensic Identification Section.
Search warrants were executed during the investigation. RCMP said the firearm believed to have been used in the shootings has been recovered, along with additional ammunition.
Lees, of Cold Lake, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of discharging a firearm with intent. He is also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence or registration and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Lees remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Cold Lake provincial court on Nov. 19.
Cold Lake RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.
