Good morning border region, it’s Saturday Jan. 31and this is your morning Border Brief. Roads are your top story today.
Saskatchewan Highway Hotline is showing covered, to partially covered on 16 and 17 as well as all side roads throughout the region with reduced visibility.
Alberta 511, on the other hand says roads are bare with no visibility issues. Some of the highway cameras show visibility issues.
If you are headed anywhere this morning, it’s just best to add extra time.

Yesterday was a busy one.
Head over to the site to check out stories about Saskatchewan Health dodging serious questions on Lloydminster Hospital ER.
The individual who was involved in a hit and run earlier this week now faces numerous charges including two counts of assault with a weapon.
Highway 16 was shut down for hours eastbound near Vermilion yesterday for a collision. We are expecting updates on that today.
Lastly, Vermilion firefighters battled a structure fire Thursday night, they were on scene multiple hours. The building was heavily damaged. The cause is under investigation but not deemed to be suspicious.

You can get your donuts in support of Special Olympics starting throughout the weekend. Starting tomorrow, Mother Teresa with the support of Sobeys is launching their fifth annual donut campaign with a goal of raising more than $10,000.
Geek on the Peak:
Geek on the Peak launches tomorrow at 5 p.m. when two Kinsman members start their life 24 feet up in the air outside of City Hall for 6 days. Donations can be made in support of Telemiracle 50 on site or at geekonthepeak.com.

Sports:
The Bobcats defeated the Ft. McMurray Oil Barons 5-0 last night on the backs of a 20 save performance by Ty Matonovich. They take on the Whitecourt Wolverines on the road tonight.
The league leading Bandits froze out the Cold Lake Ice 5-3 on the road last night. They are home to face the last place Vegreville Tigers tonight.
Time for your Rustlers Rundown.
Woman’s hockey defeated Medicine Hat Rattlers at home last night 4-2. They have a quick turnaround and face them again this afternoon at 2:30 at Co-Op community rink.
The Men’s volleyball team fell to Northwestern 3 sets to 0 last night. The woman’s team defeated Northwestern by the same margin.
The men’s basketball team defeated Alberta-Augustana 74-57 while the woman’s team were doubled 80-40 in their loss to the same school. Both volleyball and Basketball remain playing their respective opponents again today.
