The City of Lloydminster’s Governance and Priorities Committee will meet Monday afternoon for its first meeting of 2026.

The agenda is light on decisions, but it sets the table for several issues that will resurface later this winter and into spring.

One of the main items is a six-month check-in on the city’s updated Land Use Bylaw, which came into effect last June. Administration is flagging areas that may need refinement, including landscaping rules, signage regulations, enforcement procedures, definitions, and mapping. A formal bylaw amendment is expected to come to council later in the first quarter.

Committee members will also receive an update on the Southwest Area Structure Plan, which guides future development in the city’s southwest. Administration says the project is nearing the end of its public engagement phase, with an open house scheduled for Jan. 29 at the Servus Sports Centre. First reading of the bylaw is expected later this year.

Other items include a fourth-quarter procurement report outlining contracts awarded near the end of 2025, and a governance document update summarizing policies and bylaws reviewed or added over the past quarter.

No votes or new bylaws are scheduled for Monday’s meeting, but several of the topics discussed are expected to return to council in the coming months.

The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall. Border Pulse will follow along and report back if anything unexpected emerges.
