A concerned citizen’s call to police led to an impaired driving charge against a 36-year-old Prince Albert area woman, who is scheduled to appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Lloydminster on Sept. 7.
RCMP were called to the 4100 block of 57 Avenue around 8 p.m. on July 30 after a witness reported a driver slumped over the steering wheel of a parked vehicle.
Officers arrived and took the driver into custody.
EMS and Lloydminster Fire and Rescue also responded to check on the driver.
The witness told BorderPulse both the driver and a passenger were inside the vehicle when they arrived. One person was slumped over the steering wheel. The other had a foot resting outside the passenger door.
The passenger had not moved for several minutes before the witness decided to call police.
The woman was issued an appearance notice and has not yet appeared before a judge. Therefore we can not name her at this time.
The charge has not been tested in court. She is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
RCMP is reminding the public that anyone who believes someone is driving while impaired should call 911 and report it immediately.
