Families across the region are finding a stronger start thanks to the work of Midwest Family Connections.
The Lloydminster-based non-profit offers services to families and caregivers of children from birth to 18 ranging from universal to specialized programs. Services may include home visits, developmental screenings and parent-child groups designed to build confidence and connection from the start. The programs focus on helping parents understand milestones, access community supports and find judgment-free advice when they need it most.
“We meet families where they are,” said Nicole Robertson, director of programs and services “and focus our support on what matters most to each family.”

Robertson said many families are referred through local health and education networks, but word of mouth plays a big role too. The approach is simple: support parents, strengthen families and build community.
“Parents know their children best,” Robertson said. “We’re here to help them see their own strengths.”
She said the work is about more than child development. Families build friendships, share experiences and often continue to support each other long after formal programs end.
As demand for early-childhood and family support services grows, Midwest Family Connections plans to expand outreach into rural areas and work more closely with other community agencies. For Robertson, the goal never changes: giving families the support they need to build healthy, confident futures.
