Columns of smoke can be seen north of Highway 16 as you head towards Waseca at this hour. The grassfire is located approximately 3 km’s north of the highway.
Maidstone Waseca and District Fire and Rescue arrived on scene of the blaze which was reported to them at 11:40 a.m. May, 5.
According to initial reports there is no one in immediate danger and the fire is spreading in a southeasterly direction.
If you see responding vehicles please give them the space to work. Avoid the area if possible.
