Lloydminster city council is set for a largely procedural meeting Monday, with several items advancing that will shape how the city operates heading into 2026.
One of the key items on the agenda is the Taxi and Vehicle for Hire Bylaw, which is scheduled for second and third readings. If approved, the updated bylaw would formally set the regulatory framework for taxis and other for-hire vehicles operating within the city.
Council will also consider the 2026 Fees and Charges Bylaw, another item moving toward final approval. The bylaw establishes user fees across a range of city services, including recreation facilities, transportation-related services, and the Cenovus Energy Hub. While individual fees vary, the bylaw sets the baseline for what residents and user groups can expect to pay in the coming year.
A borrowing bylaw related to a municipal software replacement project is also on the agenda. The bylaw would allow the city to borrow up to $5.5 million to replace core financial and administrative systems used across multiple departments. This item is scheduled for first reading, with further discussion expected at future meetings.
Council will also approve the 2026 deputy mayor schedule and committee appointments, setting internal leadership roles and committee representation for the coming year.
Several community-focused funding decisions are expected as well, including grants supporting social, health, and cultural programs, along with decisions on property tax exemptions for non-profit organizations.
Overall, Monday’s meeting is expected to focus on governance and administration, with multiple items setting the groundwork for more detailed discussions in the weeks ahead.
