County of Vermilion River firefighters were called to a reported shop fire south of the Town of Vermilion shortly after 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29.
Vermilion Fire and Rescue Society, County Fire Chief Kirk Hughes, Vermilion RCMP, Medavie Health Services West – Northeast Alberta, and ATCO responded to the scene.
On arrival, fire command advised the structure was fully involved. Firefighters deployed attack lines and used foam to suppress the blaze, while additional apparatus worked to establish a rural water shuttle.
By midnight, Vermilion Fire Chief Anton Krys confirmed the fire was out and crews had returned to the hall and were back in service.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
