The installation of new signage at the southwest development site confirming Costco’s planned arrival has drawn attention across the community.
As previously reported by The Border Pulse, foundation work appears underway at the site along 75 Avenue, and a prominently placed sign now confirms the long-discussed retail development is moving forward. While the store has not publicly listed an opening date, the visible progress has generated renewed excitement among residents.
Mayor Gerald Aalbers has now issued a statement in response to inquiries about the recently installed signage.
“Like many residents, I was pleased to see the recently installed sign at the southwest worksite confirming Costco’s planned arrival in Lloydminster. On behalf of our community, let me be among the first to say, ‘Welcome, Costco!’
A retail development of this scale has the potential to be transformative for our city. It will complement the strong range of local businesses and services already operating here, while attracting increased regional traffic and investment. This is a significant and exciting step forward for Lloydminster’s continued growth and economic momentum.”
The proposed Costco development has been in discussion for several years and represents one of the largest retail investments in Lloydminster’s recent history. City approvals and permits were previously granted for the project, setting the stage for construction activity now visible on site.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
