Eleven-year-old Grace Myers set the pace for the Border Blades Speed Skating Club at the 2026 Alberta Winter Games, bringing home three bronze medals while competing in the Female 12-13 division.
Skating up an age category, Myers earned bronze in the 1500 metre, 400 metre and 1000 metre events. She narrowly missed another podium finish in the 800 metre, placing fourth. In the 1000 metre, she missed silver by just four one-hundredths of a second.
Her consistent finishes across all four distances secured third place overall in the Female 12-13 division.
Myers also recorded personal best times in each of her four individual races, capping off a standout weekend against some of the province’s top young speed skaters.
The Border Blades demonstrated depth throughout the competition, with several athletes delivering strong results and personal best performances.

The team’s performance reflects months of preparation and steady development as the season progresses.
The Border Blades now shift their focus to the Provincial Age Class Championships, scheduled for March 21-22 in Lloydminster at the Cenovus Hub.
For the club, the Alberta Winter Games marked both a proud moment and a promising sign of what is still to come this season.
