Maidstone Call Logs

Maidstone RCMP responded to 137 calls for service between June 4 and June 18, and the files ran the full range – from ongoing child welfare investigations to a brotherly dispute the caller himself couldn’t be bothered to follow through on.

On June 4, a Lashburn driver called police after a semi-truck driver appeared to point a black object at her through his windshield. Officers located the truck, detained the driver and searched the vehicle. No weapons were found. No charges were laid.

On June 6, a woman was arrested after being found inside a home in the RM of Britannia following a 911 break-and-enter call. She was held briefly before being released to appear in court at a later date.

The same day, a 911 call came in from near Waseca – but no one was on the line. The call originated from an iPhone’s automatic crash detection feature. Officers patrolled the area and found no collision and no one in need of help.

On June 12, RCMP received a call about two dogs crossing the highway near Paynton.

A June 13 report of a disturbance in the RM of Britannia prompted a larger response. A caller reported hearing a loud vehicle, people arguing, what sounded like gunshots and then a vehicle driving away. Officers from Maidstone and Onion Lake attended and searched the area – including an aerial drone sweep. Nothing was found.

On June 15, a Maidstone vehicle was reported stolen. The owner had left the keys inside. The vehicle was recovered the following day in the RM of Frenchman Butte – burnt. No leads or suspects have been identified.

A June 17 fight at a Maidstone business started simply enough: two brothers, an argument, a girl. The caller reported the altercation himself. By the time officers arrived, things had settled. The caller then declined to provide a statement. No arrests were made.

More serious files from the period include an ongoing child assault investigation after Lloydminster Child and Family Services filed a referral on June 9, a reported child abuse case in Marshall on June 12, an assault-with-a-weapon investigation in the RM of Wilton that resulted in charges against several individuals, and a harassment investigation in Maidstone that remains open.

On the traffic side, a driver stopped by RCMP June 15 on Highway 16 in the RM of Eldon was clocked at 149 km/h. A second stop the same day on Highway 303 found a driver with an active arrest warrant who also failed a roadside breath test. That driver, from Prince Albert, was charged with impaired operation, had their licence suspended and their vehicle impounded.

Anyone with information on any of the incidents listed in the report is asked to contact Maidstone RCMP or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
