A Grande Prairie man is facing more than a dozen Criminal Code charges after RCMP say he used social media to lure and sexually assault multiple victims, including an 18-year-old woman from Lloydminster.
Joseph Kidd, 32, was arrested multiple times between April and June 2026 following four separate investigations by Grande Prairie RCMP.
Police say the first investigation began April 17, after a 14-year-old girl from British Columbia attended the Grande Prairie detachment to report a sexual assault. She told officers she had met Kidd through social media, and that he drove to B.C. to pick her up before bringing her to his Grande Prairie residence. She was held there for approximately one week before leaving while Kidd was at work.
Kidd was charged in connection with that incident with:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference
- Forcible confinement
- Assault while choking
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
He was remanded until April 20 and later released April 30 on conditions set by a judge.
The second investigation began May 10, when RCMP responded to a 911 call at Kidd’s residence. Police say Kidd had driven to Lloydminster and picked up an 18-year-old woman, then brought her back to Grande Prairie. When she refused to have sexual relations with him, Kidd allegedly assaulted her.
He was charged in connection with that incident with:
- Assault
- Assault while choking
- Sexual assault
- Fail to comply with a release order (three counts)
Kidd was released June 1 on $7,500 cash bail by a Justice of the Peace, with conditions and a court date of June 22 at Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie.
He did not make it to that date without further allegations.
On June 18, a 15-year-old girl attended the Grande Prairie detachment to report that Kidd had been following her. She told police he offered her alcohol to enter his vehicle, and that on at least one occasion she did. She said she was taken to his residence and sexually assaulted. Police say the incidents took place between June 4 and June 18.
Kidd was charged in connection with those incidents with:
- Criminal harassment
- Sexual interference
- Sexual assault
- Fail to comply with release conditions
Also on June 18, RCMP received a second 911 call, this one from the mother of a 12-year-old girl. The mother reported that a man in a yellow convertible Chevrolet Camaro had attempted to lure her daughter into his vehicle. Officers located Kidd driving the vehicle shortly after.
He was charged in that incident with:
- Abduction of a person under 14 years old
- Fail to comply with release conditions
Following a judicial interim release hearing, Kidd was remanded into custody. He is next scheduled to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on July 2, 2026.
