Maidstone RCMP log: auto 911, brotherly feud and gunshots

Maidstone RCMP responded to 137 calls for service between June 4 and June 18, and the files ran the full range – from ongoing child welfare investigations to a brotherly dispute the caller himself couldn’t be bothered to follow through on. On June 4, a Lashburn driver called police after a semi-truck driver appeared to point a black object at her through his windshield. Officers located the truck, detained the driver and searched the vehicle. No weapons were found. No charges were laid. On June 6, a woman was arrested after being found inside a home in the RM of

Lloydminster Health Assessment – 5 – ICU, What ICU?

Lloydminster Hospital lost its intensive care unit to staffing challenges. A health assessment says the hospital still does not meet Saskatchewan’s legal standard for regional hospitals – and critically ill patients are being flown out by air ambulance, weather permitting. Lloydminster Hospital once had an intensive care unit. Staffing challenges led to its closure. The ICU was downgraded to a Special Care Unit. And there it has stayed. “While the hospital once had an ICU, staffing challenges led to the loss of the ICU and downgrading into the SCU,” the Lloydminster Health Service Needs Assessment states. That sentence is in

LHA: Opinion – For those working inside the system

This series is not about the people who work inside Lloydminster Hospital. It never was. The nurses on the maternity ward who stabilize sick newborns until transport arrives are doing extraordinary work under conditions that should embarrass the governments responsible for creating them. The paramedics loading patients onto air ambulances because there is no ICU are not failing this community. The police officers driving mental health patients to St. Paul at 2 a.m. because there is nowhere else to go are not the problem. The problem is what two governments were told, when they were told it, and what they

AB Crop Report: Wet weather stalls Lloyd-area crop growth

Crop conditions in the Lloydminster area slipped slightly last week as excess moisture continued to stall growth. The North East region, which includes Vermilion, Camrose and Provost, is rated 59.1 per cent good to excellent as of June 23. That is down from 60 per cent the week before, according to the latest Alberta crop report. Weekend showers pushed excessive surface soil moisture in the region to 22 per cent, up from 13 per cent the previous week. Spring cereals in the North East are staging at an average of seven tillers. Historically, crops would be entering early stem elongation

Sask. – Lloydminster crops hold steady as rain floods others

Farmers in the Lloydminster area are faring better than much of Saskatchewan after a week of heavy rain and hail soaked fields across the province. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s latest crop report, released July 3 and covering June 23 to 29, shows the west half of the province has the fewest acres of crops behind normal development. Warmer, drier conditions kept local crops on track while other regions deal with flooding and delays. Where the rain hit hardest East-central Saskatchewan, stretching from Saskatoon to the Manitoba border, took the worst of it. The Kuroki area recorded 165 millimetres of

Lloydminster Health Assessment: Update – What we’ve found so far

A running record of BorderPulse’s investigation into the Lloydminster Health Service Needs Assessment, what’s been published, what’s coming, and why it matters. Two governments paid $262,260 for a detailed picture of health care in Lloydminster. They received it in December 2025. They released four pages. BorderPulse is publishing the rest.
