RCMP confirm Fatal head-on collision north of Lloyd

Maidstone RCMP have confirmed an 88-year-old man from Lloydminster, Alberta died after a two-vehicle collision Monday evening north of the city.

Around 6 p.m. on Nov. 24, officers responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 798, about 12 kilometres north of Lloydminster. EMS also attended.

Police say a car and a truck collided. The driver and passenger of the truck were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The driver of the car was transported to hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced deceased. His family has been notified.

Maidstone RCMP continue to investigate with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

RCMP noted the support of the Lloydminster Rescue Squad, which provided initial first aid and assisted with traffic control at the scene.
