Lloydminster RCMP say a fire at an unhoused encampment Saturday night marks the second blaze at the site in less than a week.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 10:20 p.m. on March 14 to a fire call off 40 Ave.
When they arrived, Lloydminster Fire and Rescue crews were already on scene working to extinguish a blaze at the encampment.
Police confirmed there were no injuries reported in the incident.
The fire comes days after another blaze was reported at the same encampment earlier in the week.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
The City of Lloydminster communications department provided this statement after original publication.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 14, Lloydminster Fire Rescue responded to a reported grass fire,” stated city officials. Due to the nature of the call, two engines were dispatched. Upon arrival, crews located a fire within an unhoused encampment. The fire was quickly extinguished, and crews cleared the scene. No injuries were reported.”
