UPDATED – Tanker collision just reported on HIghway 16 west of Lloydminster

Update: 10:13 a.m. – As per Kitscoty RCMP.

“On March 17, 2026, at approximately 9 a.m., Kitscoty RCMP responded to a report of another multi vehicle collision on Highway 16, westbound, near Range Road 40a, in Vermillion River County. A tanker truck, semi-truck, and other vehicles are involved, with unknown injuries at this time. An update will be provided when available.”

A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 16 between Kitscoty and Vermilion at this hour has multiple emergency services on site.

According to a reader tip, the highway is effected in both directions. RCMP confirmed a tanker truck as well as a white SUV and other vehicle are involved near Range Road 40. Vermilion Fire Department and crews from County of Vermilion River are also on scene.

You can expect the roadway to be extremely slow for some time while the situation is unfolding. There is no word on injuries at this time.

Please give all emergency services room to work, remember the law states to slow to 60 km/h and move over.

Kitscoty RCMP are noting that road conditions in the area are not in good shape.
