Lots of smoke led emergency crews to an unhoused encampment early Friday morning on the city’s east end.
The Border Pulse received a reader tip around 8:20 a.m., reporting emergency crews in a field off 40 Avenue near the north end of the city.
Upon arrival, we observed Lloydminster Fire Rescue (LFR) command vehicles and firefighters were leaving a large field area off to the east of the roadway.

In a statement, the City of Lloydminster said LFR responded to the incident at 7:58 a.m. after a large cloud of black smoke was noticed north of Station No. 1.
Due to the volume of smoke and the initial unknown location, additional units from Station No. 2 were requested to assist.
The blaze was later determined to be at an encampment. No injuries were reported.
