Lloydminster RCMP officers drove a stabbing victim to hospital themselves Aug. 2 after ambulance crews responding from outside the city could not arrive in time.
The decision came during a break and enter call that also involved bear mace and left two other people needing help from Lloydminster Fire Rescue.
RCMP were called at 2:10 p.m. Sunday to a report of a break-in in progress in the 5600 block of 51A Ave. Bear mace had been deployed inside the residence.
Officers later learned one of the victims had also been stabbed before the break-in, at a separate location.
Given the severity of the injuries and the delay in getting an ambulance from outside Lloydminster, RCMP transported the stabbing victim to hospital themselves, said Cpl. Mathew Howell, public information officer with the Alberta RCMP Media Group.
Lloydminster Fire Rescue responded to help two other people hurt in the same incident, Howell said.
Investigators have recovered CCTV footage from the scene and identified suspects. No arrests have been made, Howell said.
No charges have been laid. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lloydminster RCMP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
RCMP said the investigation remains active.
