At approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning, Lloydminster RCMP responded to reports of a shirtless man banging on the door of a residence near 49 Avenue and 23 Street. The temperature was in the minus 20s at the time of the call, without windchill.
Officers say it was one of those calls where they don’t know what they are walking into.
RCMP found a man, shirtless, with minor injuries who claimed he had been beat up. Police placed him in the back of a vehicle as EMS was called to assess him. A spokesperson said the man told officers he had been out with friends, said something, and ended up getting assaulted, but refused to provide names, details, or even where he was headed.
He was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries, then arrested for failing to comply with existing release conditions. He was issued an appearance notice.
