Slick road conditions had emergency crews dispatched at 4:28 a.m. Nov. 19. They responded to reports of a rollover on the rural road north of Kitscoty. Kitscoty Fire Department and officers from the local RCMP detachment responded.
Firefighters arrived to find a road maintenance snow and sanding truck lying on its side. Fuel was leaking from the vehicle, prompting crews to secure the area, contain the spill, and check on the operator. Members also helped manage traffic until a tow unit arrived.
Drivers are reminded that provincial law requires motorists to slow down when passing emergency vehicles at collision scenes, including on divided highways.
Captain Cody Asselstine confirmed the scene was handed over just after 7:30 a.m. and all units returned to the hall.
Roads across the region remain slick, and crews continue working to keep them safe. Motorists are urged to adjust their speed to match conditions.
