After over a year of covering stories for the city’s century-old newspaper I recently found myself at a crossroads. When I was unexpectedly laid off, I had a choice, I could step away from bringing you stories you care about or build something better.
In the weeks that followed, many people reached out and asked what happened. My answer was simple. Be patient. Something new was on the way.
The Border Pulse was born from that decision. It was created to fill a gap in local coverage and to give our community a trusted, independent voice that is free of corporate oversight and driven by the people it serves.
I have seen firsthand how much this region cares about its schools, emergency services, local businesses, and the stories that connect us. Those stories deserve a place where they can be told with honesty, accuracy, and respect.
Built on trust, fuelled by community
The Border Pulse is guided by three simple ideas: transparency, accountability, and respect.
That means verifying every fact, giving people a fair say, and always explaining why a story matters.
Local journalism only works when the community is part of it. If you have a tip, idea, or concern, reach out. Your input helps shape what we cover next.
What’s next
Over the coming weeks, you will start to see regular news, features, and spotlights appear on BorderPulse.ca, from city hall and local sports to human-interest stories and community profiles.
This is just the beginning. Thank you for following, sharing, and believing that local news still matters. Together, we can build something that truly reflects the heartbeat of the Border City.

Thank you for starting this . Wonderful idea and long past due………… How can we support you?
