RCMP are asking residents in the 20th Street West area to check home security and doorbell camera footage as they investigate the suspicious death of a Battleford woman.
Battlefords RCMP were called to a residence at approximately 2:45 p.m. on April 8, where officers located a deceased female.
Police have identified her as 65-year-old Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko of North Battleford. Her family has been notified.
Her death is considered suspicious, and the Saskatchewan RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation.
Investigators are specifically asking anyone in the area to review footage recorded between April 1 and April 8 and report anything unusual.
Information can be reported to RCMP by calling 310-RCMP. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Police say there will be an increased presence on 20th Street West as the investigation into the woman’s death continues.
Officers have not indicated any immediate risk to the public but say updates will be provided if that changes.
No further details have been released.
