Onion Lake RCMP have charged two women after a traffic stop turned up methamphetamine, weapons and unstamped tobacco.
Officers stopped a vehicle in Onion Lake at about 1 a.m. on July 12. Police said illegal tobacco was visible inside the vehicle.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested. A search of the driver turned up an imitation firearm. A search of the passenger turned up a small amount of methamphetamine.
Police also seized unstamped tobacco, edged weapons and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle.
Carissa Giant, 32, of Edmonton, faces the following charges:
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code
• Carrying a concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code
Tiara Dillon, 33, of Onion Lake, faces the following charges:
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code
• Possession of methamphetamine, Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Giant and Dillon appeared in court in Onion Lake on July 13.
The charges have not been proven in court. Both women are presumed innocent unless and until convicted.
