A 26-year-old Onion Lake Cree Nation woman is charged with aggravated assault after a man was seriously injured at a home on the reserve in July.
Saskatchewan RCMP‘s Battlefords Serious Crimes Unit laid the charge against Leah Thomas following a three-week investigation.
Onion Lake RCMP received a report July 8 of an injured man in hospital. EMS crews had picked him up at a residence on Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Investigators determined his injuries were suspicious and likely serious. The Battlefords Serious Crimes Unit took over the file and found an altercation had occurred at the home.
Officers searched the residence with help from North Battleford Forensic Identification Services. They recovered evidence at the scene.
Thomas was arrested July 29 and charged with one count of aggravated assault.
She’s scheduled to appear in court in Onion Lake on Sept. 16.
The case remains before the courts. No further details are expected before then.
