A heavy police presence on 50 Ave. near 56a St. on the morning of May 3, was in relation to a potentially serious assault in the area.

More details are expected in the coming days but what we know at the moment comes from Lloydminster RCMP Operations Officer Bruce McLean.

“It was a call of a possible assault in progress,” stated McLean. “All I can say at this point is a victim was identified and taken to hospital with significant injuries and the investigation is ongoing.”

Officers could be seen taking evidence from the scene including blood off the sidewalk. The K9 unit was also on scene for a period of time.
