A driver was arrested this afternoon after a vehicle mounted the sidewalk at 50 Avenue and 48 Street, striking signage, a building, and a parked car before coming to rest.
Witnesses told The Border Pulse the vehicle was travelling eastbound when it left the roadway, struck sidewalk signs, brushed a nearby building, and hit a parked vehicle with enough force to spin it onto a lawn. 48 street was closed going eastbound from 50 for nearly an hour while police investigated and cleared debris from the scene.
The suspect vehicle rotated and came to rest facing westbound roughly halfway between 48 Ave. and 49 Ave.
The driver was the only person injured in the collision.
Lloydminster Fire Rescue responded to the scene. No extrication was required according to officials on scene. An RCMP member pulled him out of the car before they arrived.
WPD Ambulance Services treated the driver at the scene before the individual was handed over to police custody.
Police placed the individual into a cruiser and drove away. No further details on charges or the cause of the collision have been released.
