March 26 K9 MAZ 4

A stolen vehicle investigation that began in Saskatchewan led to a police chase and a K-9 track in the Lloydminster area, ending with EMS being called and one suspect in custody.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, officers from Killam, AB responded to an alarm at a Dodge dealership on Jan. 24 around 5:34 p.m.

Police later confirmed a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer had been stolen from the business.

Shortly after, the vehicle was spotted in the Lloydminster area. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled.

The vehicle was eventually abandoned, prompting officers to call in Cpl. Tim Feasby and his K9 officer, Maz.

K-9 Maz tracks suspect

Maz successfully tracked one of the suspects in a field east of Lloydminster.

The individual was arrested after the track and sustained minor injuries during the apprehension. EMS were initially called for reports of a dog bite and treated the individual.

Police said two people were believed to be involved – a driver and a passenger. It is believed it was the passenger taken into custody, while the status of the second remains unclear.

Charges laid following arrest

A 35-year-old man, identified as Justin Carlson, has been charged in connection to the incident.

Charges include possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2.

Police noted that charges related to the initial break and enter and vehicle theft have not yet been laid as that portion of the investigation remains ongoing.

Investigation timeline explains delay

The details of the incident were released later due to the active and ongoing nature of the investigation.

Police continue to investigate both the theft and the events that followed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP.

  1. The article was published on March 26, 2026, and states Carlson was remanded into custody until a February 2 court date. Any explanation why he’s being held in custody for nearly a year? Will his stay be covered by tax dollars?

    • The Line:

He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2.

After he was arrested in late Jan.

It was the last update we have for his time in court atm. Not that he’s in jail for a year.

      Hope that clarifies.
