An Onion Lake man is facing 17 charges after Saskatchewan RCMP found cocaine, methamphetamine and a firearm with a defaced serial number in a Lloydminster motel room.
Mackenzie Cannapotatoe, 25, was spotted outside a motel on 44th Street on April 17 by officers from the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) – who recognized him as having an outstanding warrant.
When officers moved in to arrest him, he fled on foot. He was caught a short time later.
Drugs, prohibited firearm found in room
Officers obtained a search warrant for a motel room following the arrest. Inside, they found approximately 28 grams of cocaine, approximately 32 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm with its serial number removed, and ammunition.
Cannapotatoe faces two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, seven counts of failing to comply with release order conditions, and five additional firearms-related offences including unlicensed possession and unsafe storage.
He also faces one count of resisting a peace officer.
Cannapotatoe was also arrested on outstanding warrants and for breaching a Conditional Sentence Order. He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 20.
