A break and enter at a North Battleford business early Tuesday morning ended with a stolen SUV recovered and a suspect arrested north of Glaslyn, according to Battlefords RCMP.
Police said officers were called to a business on 99th Street at about 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 14 after a report of a break and enter. Investigators determined a male suspect forced entry into the building, damaged a door, and stole multiple sets of vehicle keys before taking an SUV from the property.
As the investigation continued, officers learned the stolen vehicle was believed to be in the Glaslyn detachment area. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services were called in to assist.
Police later located an SUV matching the description of the stolen vehicle on Highway 3 north of Glaslyn. The vehicle was stopped, and the male driver was arrested without incident.
RCMP said the man was in possession of multiple sets of keys and break-in tools at the time of his arrest. The items were seized, and the SUV was recovered undamaged.
As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Troy Moccasin of Saulteaux First Nation is charged with failing to comply with a probation order, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, breaking and entering with intent, and possession of break-in instruments.
Moccasin appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 15.
