Onion Lake RCMP has charged two people after a traffic stop uncovered methamphetamine, cocaine and a machete.
Officers stopped a vehicle on Chief Taylor Road around 1:45 a.m. Aug. 17, RCMP said in a release Monday.
Police determined one of the occupants was breaching court-ordered conditions. The conditions required the person to abstain from alcohol and stay in an approved residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
An officer then spotted open alcohol inside the vehicle.
The stop led to a search that turned up about 89 grams of methamphetamine, 45 grams of cocaine and 11 pharmaceutical-style narcotic tablets, RCMP said.
Officers also seized drug trafficking paraphernalia, a sum of cash and a machete.
Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
Aaron Chief, 44, and Raven Heathen, 35, both from the Onion Lake area, are each charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
They are also each charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Chief faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a release order condition.
Heathen remains in custody. She is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court Aug. 26.
Chief also remains in custody, with his next court appearance set for Sept. 2 in Lloydminster Provincial Court.
