The RCMP in the Battlefords are warning the public about a report of a potentially hazardous consumable liquid circulating in the detachment area.

They say they are investigating multiple sudden deaths reported in the past week. Officers caution the investigation is in its preliminary stages and, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, they are working to determine whether the deaths are connected to the reported substance. Families are being notified.

Police say they do not have specific details or descriptors of the liquid beverage or substance at this time. Given the potential safety risk, officials are urging residents in the Battlefords detachment area to exercise caution and avoid consuming any unknown liquid beverages or substances.

The police said officers are in the very early stages of the investigation and have no further information to release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

If you or someone with you experiences a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.

Police say they will provide updates as more information becomes available.
