STARS alerted for collision on 66 street in Lloydminster

Emergency crews, including Shock Trauma Air Rescue Services ( STARS ), were alerted to a collision early Wednesday morning at the intersection of 66 Street and 50 Avenue in Lloydminster.

At approximately 4:45 a.m. Mar. 4, Ambulance Dispatch out of Prince Alberta command centre, notified paramedics in Lloydminster, as well as the quick response air evacuation service, of a possible rollover collision at the intersection.

STARS awaited further information before launching a crew toward the community. When no patients were reported to them, the air ambulance was stood down.

RCMP later confirmed the collision involved a semi-truck and a Cadillac SRX.

There is currently no word on what caused the collision. The roadway remained open in both directions following the incident.
