RCMP Gang task force arrests one in North Battleford

An adult male is facing firearms charges after Saskatchewan RCMP executed a search warrant at a business in North Battleford.

According to Saskatchewan RCMP, the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force, with assistance from the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team, carried out the search on Feb. 12 at a business located on the Highway 16 bypass. Police said the warrant was part of an ongoing firearms investigation.

During the search, officers located one unsafely stored firearm and ammunition.

Six individuals were arrested at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Trebor Swindler of North Battleford has been charged with:

  • one count of unlawful possession of a non-restricted firearm, Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • one count of careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.

The five other individuals were released from police custody without charge.

Swindler appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb. 13.

The investigation remains ongoing.
