Saskatchewan RCMP say specialized enforcement teams seized more than 120 firearms during investigations and enforcement operations across the province in 2025.
The seizures were part of a broader effort targeting organized crime, drug trafficking and high-risk offenders. RCMP say the operations also led to hundreds of arrests and the removal of significant quantities of illicit drugs from Saskatchewan communities.
The work is carried out by Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams, known as SERT. The province-wide network supports front-line RCMP detachments and focuses on individuals and groups believed to be driving violence and drug trafficking.
SERT includes five specialized units: Crime Reduction Teams, the Human Trafficking and Counter Exploitation Unit, the Offender Management Unit, the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team and the Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team.
The teams include 106 RCMP officers and 27 public service and civilian employees based in 10 communities across Saskatchewan. They deploy across the province as intelligence identifies emerging threats.
“Our specialized teams work hand-in-hand with front-line officers and community partners to target the individuals causing the most harm in Saskatchewan,” said Insp. Michelle Ireland, officer in charge of SERT. “Last year’s results show how that coordinated, intelligence-driven enforcement is making a real impact, removing dangerous drugs, firearms and high-risk offenders from communities throughout the province.”
RCMP highlighted several operations from the past year.
In May, SERT officers intercepted methamphetamine during a traffic stop that field-tested positive for fentanyl contamination. Two adults were arrested and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health issued a public drug alert warning residents about the heightened risk.

In October, SERT officers assisted Turtleford RCMP in a four-day operation targeting outstanding warrants. Police arrested 10 individuals wanted by courts during the enforcement effort.
Later that month in North Battleford, officers executing a search warrant had a firearm pointed at them during the operation. Two men were arrested, five firearms and cocaine were seized and police laid 40 charges.
A December investigation involving SERT and Prince Albert Police Service’s Crime Reduction Team led to the seizure of 3.9 kilograms of cocaine, 4.8 kilograms of methamphetamine and six firearms from a residence and vehicle in central Saskatchewan.
Mounties say the investigations highlight how criminal networks often operate across communities and jurisdictions, requiring cooperation between police agencies across the province.
Overall in 2025, Saskatchewan RCMP’s SERT units executed 765 arrest warrants, conducted 375 search warrants and assisted with 69 interprovincial investigations.
Police made 1,048 arrests and laid 955 charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Those investigations also resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 kilograms of methamphetamine, 14 kilograms of cocaine, 357 grams of fentanyl, three kilograms of other drugs and 70 pharmaceutical-style tablets, along with more than 120 firearms.
