Battlefords RCMP are searching for two suspects after a man was shot while trying to help what he thought was a stranded driver near Cando, Sask.

Police received a report of an injured male at a hospital in North Battleford at approximately 3:45 a.m. on June 27.

Investigators determined the man had seen a truck stopped on the side of a road near Cando. He approached to see if the occupants needed help.

The driver got out and fired a gun, injuring the man. The driver then got back in the truck and fled the area.

The man was taken to hospital. He is expected to recover.

Police describe the truck as a dark-coloured Dodge with two male occupants. The passenger is described as tall and was wearing a face covering. No further details on the driver are available.

RCMP are asking anyone with information, or anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Cando area in the early hours of June 27, to contact police.
