A man walking his dog was shot at by occupants of a passing truck in North Battleford on June 26, and the dog was killed. Three people are now facing charges, including weapons-related offences.
Battlefords RCMP received the call at approximately 8 p.m. on 8th Avenue North. Officers determined a truck with multiple occupants approached the man, who was on foot with his dog. The occupants uttered threats and discharged a firearm. The dog was struck and declared dead at the scene. The man was not physically injured.
Police located the suspect truck a short time later, parked outside a residence on 110 Street. Three males exited the home and were arrested without incident. A female fled on foot but was taken into custody nearby.
Battlefords RCMP, with help from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, obtained a search warrant for the residence. Officers seized two firearms.
One of the males arrested was later released without charge.
Dennis Kennedy, 37, of North Battleford faces 11 charges, including discharging a firearm while being reckless, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, careless use of a firearm, weapons possession contrary to a court order, and operating a vehicle while prohibited.
Allan Desmeules, 53, of North Battleford faces five charges related to the storage, possession, and unauthorized possession of firearms, as well as two counts of weapons possession contrary to a court order.
Tashina Whitstone, 39, of Red Pheasant Cree Nation faces one count of uttering threats to animals and one count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
Kennedy appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on June 29. Desmeules and Whitstone are scheduled to appear on Aug. 17, 2026.
All three are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
