Good morning Lloydminster and welcome to today’s Border Brief. Off the top, visibility is reduced across our region due to some early morning fog. No weather warning, but be prepared to add a little time if your driving in the county. Roads are in decent shape across the region, and the winner of the give-away is announced. With that out of the way Here are your headlines, commodity prices and everything else you need to have as you roll out the door.

Headlines:
1 – A firearm was pointed at people inside Lloydminster City Hall yesterday.
2 – Meadow Lake RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for a 21-year-old female after drugs, weapons seized.
3 – A Lloydminster Taxi company is down one vehicle after a mid morning collision Thursday.
4 – The County of Vermilion River Protective Services responded to over 500 calls last year.
5 – NASA will be bringing astronauts home early from the space station after a “medical issue” with one of the crew members.

Commodities:
March spring wheat closed at $5.18 per bushel, unchanged on the day.
March canola closed at $625.90 per tonne, up nearly $6.
March feeder cattle closed at $357.73 per hundredweight, gaining about $2.25.
March oats closed at $3.07 per bushel, down slightly.
Feed barley is trading around $231 per tonne, according to the latest Alberta Agriculture weekly market review.
Yellow peas are trading around $256 per tonne, based on the same report.
As of this morning, according to OilPrice.com, Western Canadian Select crude was trading around US$45.41 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was trading around US$58.26 per barrel.

Roads:
Road conditions around the region are in great shape today. Bare conditions reported from Edmonton through to Lloydminster with only patchy fog. Partially covered through to Maidstone then bare on to North Battleford with one spot closer to Saskatoon reported as partially covered. Partially covered up to Onion Lake then bare in and around the St. Walburg and Turtleford area. We still have the ongoing issues at Deer Creek Bridge.

Weather:
Mainly sunny. Increasing cloudiness early this afternoon. Wind west 20 km/h becoming light late this morning. High -10. Wind chill -23 this morning and minus -17 this afternoon. As of 6 a.m. it was -12 feeling like -21 with winds blowing from the West at 22 km/h.

The Calgary flames were defeated 4-1 by the Boston Bruins. The Edmonton Oilers handed the Winnipeg Jets their eleventh straight loss beating them 4-3. The Bandits play at home at the Cenovus Energy Hub tonight at 8 p.m. vs. Cold Lake. The Bobcats are off to Bonnyville for the first of a home and home at 7 p.m. tonight.
