Three charged after North Battleford business search

Three men are facing a combined list of drug and weapons charges after Saskatchewan RCMP seized cocaine, methamphetamine, firearms, and other weapons from a business along the Highway 16 Bypass.

According to Saskatchewan RCMP, members of the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team were conducting proactive patrols on Feb. 7, 2026, when they located a vehicle previously reported stolen. The vehicle was found unoccupied in the parking lot of a business on the Highway 16 Bypass and was recovered by police.

While investigating the stolen vehicle, officers observed a male inside the business who was in possession of a firearm. Police entered the business as part of the investigation and arrested three males.

Following the arrests, officers obtained a warrant and searched a room within the business. During the search, police seized approximately 379 grams of powder cocaine, approximately 24 grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of crystal methamphetamine, a firearm with a tampered serial number, a sword, bear spray, ammunition, and a quantity of cash.

As a result of the investigation, the three Steven Nighttraveller, 47, of Little Pine First Nation, Nissar Khan, 34, of North Battleford, and Isaiah Pewapisconias, 22, of Little Pine First Nation, are each charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, Section 108(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm or ammunition, Section 86(2) of the Criminal Code

Nighttraveller is also charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition while knowing possession was unauthorized, Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code, as well as four counts of failing to comply with a release order condition, Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Pewapisconias faces two additional counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition while knowing possession was unauthorized, Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code.

All three men appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb. 9, 2026.
