Snow has started falling across Lloydminster and the surrounding area, with conditions changing quickly.
Emergency services on the Saskatchewan side are reporting low visibility outside the city, particularly on highways and rural roads.
Within Lloydminster, road conditions are deteriorating. Streets that were sanded earlier now have a fresh layer of snow on top, reducing traction. Parking lots that had been cleared are beginning to accumulate one to two centimetres of snow.
Winds are picking up, though visibility within city limits remains manageable for now.
The Border Pulse has received updates from across the region showing mixed conditions depending on location. Radar images earlier this morning showed a solid wall of precipitation moving through the area. Updated radar now shows significant gaps, suggesting the storm may be less uniform than first expected.
Cameras outside Blackfoot and Maidstone show roads ranging from bare to partially snow covered, with clear evidence of blowing snow in open areas.
Drivers are urged to adjust plans as conditions continue to change.

Winter weather safety tips
- Slow down and increase following distance. Snow over sand can be deceptively slick.
- Turn on headlights to improve visibility, even during daylight hours.
- Avoid sudden braking or sharp steering, especially on untreated roads.
- Give snowplows and sanding trucks plenty of space.
- If travelling outside the city, carry winter essentials including warm clothing, food, water, and a charged phone.
- Check road and weather updates before heading out and delay travel if conditions worsen.
- In poor visibility, pull over safely if needed and wait it out.
The Border Pulse will continue monitoring conditions and sharing updates as the storm progresses. Follow The Border Pulse on social media for real-time updates from Lloydminster and across the region, and to see what others are reporting on the ground.
