According to MLA Garth Rowswell, Starting in early 2026, select Saskatchewan-based providers in Lloydminster will be able to access Alberta Netcare for Alberta residents.
“This means fewer delays, no repeated tests, and safer, more confident care whether you’re on the Alberta or Saskatchewan side,” said Rowswell, via his Facebook page. “Strong privacy safeguards are in place, so your information stays secure while your providers get the tools they need to keep you healthy!”
This has been a problem in Lloydminster, if you ask some, for decades. One person recently shared her experience at a Lloydminster Concerned Citizens for Seniors Care Society meeting.

She said her husband was in serious condition at Lloydminster Hospital earlier this fall and she spent dozens of hours tracking down his Alberta health information. Stories like hers are common across our community, where patients often cross between provincial systems.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority has made previous pulbic statements regarding how complicated getting this system up and running could be.
They noted Lloydminster’s split-provincial model often created gaps in information sharing. SHA spokesperson James Winkle explained last year that Saskatchewan clinicians could not view Alberta Netcare without a formal agreement in place. As a result, staff were sometimes forced to treat Alberta patients with incomplete files, which could slow care and require repeat testing.
This is the agreement they were waiting on.
The Border Pulse will be following up for more details in the coming days.

It’s about time! It has been too long coming and very possibly the lack of communication between Alberta and Saskatchewan Health has caused very late treatment and due to advancement of the situation, some have possibly died or have the results for the rest of their lives!
