Gallery – Britannia Fire battles extreme cold, blaze overnight

With temperatures touching -35 with the windchill, at 3:33 a.m. Feb. 18, Britannia Fire Department (BFD) was dispatched to a reports of a structure burning on the four mile.

“Saskpower made the scene safe for our crew and Bob’s Backhoe Services assisted as well to pull apart the tin so the crew could ensure the hotspots were extinguished,” stated the department on social media. “Warmup breaks were taken and we are back in the hall to thaw our freezing equipment.”

Firefighters were on scene for multiple hours. They finally returned back to service at 9:33 a.m. this morning after six hours of steady operation.

The cause remains under investigation, there were no injuries.
