High speed pursuit 9

At approximately 5 p.m. this evening, RCMP responded to a serious collision along 49 Ave. near the Legion. The collision still has the roadway shut down in the area.

An eyewitness told The Border Pulse they were preparing to pull out from between City Lock and a nearby parking area when they noticed a vehicle travelling at what appeared to be an extremely high rate of speed.

“I looked and noticed the car was going really fast, so I didn’t pull out,” the witness said.

The vehicle passed at what the witness estimated to be around 130 kilometres per hour.

The witness said the driver attempted to pass a truck near the post office, swerved, narrowly avoided a truck and an SUV, then struck a FedEx truck before spinning out.

“I seen people running from the car towards the highway,” the witness said.

RCMP confirmed suspects involved in the collision have since been apprehended. Police have not yet released further details.

A press release is expected, and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.

  1. I thinkl the witness is embellishing details…130 km/hr??? Based on damage, looks like a minor fender bender

    • So, I spoke with two witnesses, including the one in the fedex truck. There is a significant hole in the side of the truck. A long debris trail. The fact it’s a civic, is the only reason the damage doesn’t look worse I’m sure.

  2. That is not a civic its clearly a Pontiac grand am and if the car was going the reported by a bystanders of 130 there would be nothing left of that car, this was a fender bender at most, and your grasping straws.
Maybe get actual infomation and estimated speed from police. Unless your going for a shock value from the community…🙄

    • The police on scene agreed with the estimate, so did the person in the person in the other truck. The individual who gave me the estimated speed originally has lots of experience with cars. Which, as you can tell, I don’t, by calling a grand am a civic.
