Lloydminster RCMP are investigating a dangerous driving incident that ended in a two-vehicle collision shortly after 11 p.m. Dec. 27, with the driver fleeing the scene and injured passengers left behind.

According to Alberta RCMP Public Information Officer Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, an officer conducting patrols observed a Dodge Dart performing donuts in a parking lot before travelling through city streets.

Police were observing the vehicle from a distance and had not attempted a traffic stop when the Dodge Dart exited a back alley on to 57th Avenue without stopping and t-boned a pickup truck.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

After the collision, the driver of the Dodge Dart fled on foot, leaving two injured passengers inside the vehicle. Lloydminster Fire Rescue was on scene and helped extricate the two passengers from the car.

Both passengers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police Service Dog Maz was deployed to assist in the search for the driver. Officers conducted patrols in the surrounding area, but the driver was not located.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

RCMP say further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
