Lloydminster is dealing with a fentanyl problem. Last week, police took a significant amount of drugs, including fentanyl, off the road.
ALERT’s organized crime team and Lloydminster RCMP stopped a vehicle just outside city limits on April 16. What they found inside had an estimated street value of $155,000.
The seizure
Officers pulled the following drugs from the vehicle:
- 527 grams of fentanyl
- 1,000 grams of methamphetamine
- 503 grams of cocaine
- 5 litres of GHB
One person was arrested. Charges have not yet been laid.

The context that matters
This seizure did not happen in a vacuum. Lloydminster has been hit by fentanyl overdoses in recent weeks – and that reality shaped how ALERT framed this result.
“Given the recent fentanyl overdoses experienced in Lloydminster, this is a large amount of fentanyl to remove from circulation and hopefully break some of the addiction cycle,” said Insp. Brad Lundeen, ALERT.
Insp. Brian Nicholl of Lloydminster RCMP pointed to what the joint effort shows about what local and provincial enforcement can do together.
“This success highlights the strength of what is achievable when ALERT and the RCMP come together with a shared commitment, protecting and strengthening our community in Lloydminster,” said Nicholl.
ALERT’s investigation is ongoing.
