Lloydminster’s Parade of Lights is officially a go after a last-minute surge of support from local businesses and organizations stepped in to save the annual holiday event.
Earlier this week, organizers warned the parade was at risk of cancellation due to a shortage of registered floats. A public call for entries quickly spread across social media, prompting businesses and community groups to act.
By the following day, organizers confirmed the event would move ahead as planned.

“Good news. We are a go for the twenty twenty five Parade of Lights,” organizers said in an update, encouraging continued registrations right up until the deadline.
The turnaround highlighted the strength of Lloydminster’s business community, many of whom met the last minute call out to submit entry forms and get involved.
The Parade of Lights has become a seasonal tradition downtown, drawing families to line the streets and kick off the holiday season with illuminated floats, music, and festive displays.

This year’s parade is scheduled for Dec. 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. in downtown Lloydminster.
Organizers thanked the community for spreading the word and answering the call when it mattered most.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue this event and share the spirit of the season with you all,” the group said.
The parade is now just one week away, with organizers continuing to accept entries and finalize details ahead of the evening event.
Residents are encouraged to attend, support participating businesses, and enjoy a night that nearly did not happen without a strong show of local support.
