RCMP confirm multiple people transported to hospital after Jan. 1 incidents

The Border Pulse received multiple public tips on Jan. 1 reporting a significant RCMP presence at two separate addresses in Lloydminster during the evening.

Alberta RCMP confirmed officers were dispatched to two EMS assist calls involving suspected overdoses.

Public Information Officer Cpl. Mat Howell confirmed the following Jan. 2.

At approximately 9 p.m., confirmed at least four individuals were transported to hospital from an apartment complex in the 5100 block of 56 Avenue. Police were assisting EMS following a suspected fentanyl overdose.

Earlier in the evening, at approximately 7:30 p.m., RCMP were dispatched to a multi-unit apartment complex in the 4400 block of 42 Street for an EMS assist related to a suspected overdose. In that incident, the patient did not require transport to hospital.
One reader noted, EMS, Lloydminster Fire and Rescue and mulitple law enforcement officers eventually arrived on scene to assist.

Police have not released additional details on the individuals involved or their current condition.
