Cold Lake RCMP placed schools and businesses under lockdown Tuesday morning after a complaint about a man with a firearm.

Mounties received the report at about 10 a.m. Sept. 29, according to an RCMP news release. It came from the area of 45 Street and Worthington Court.

Officers attended and locked down schools and businesses right away. The man surrendered to police and was apprehended without incident.

Investigators found no immediate threat to the public or to schools at the time.

The release did not name the man or say whether charges are pending.

RCMP thanked the public for calling in the complaint. Police said the call allowed a quick response and resolution.

The matter remains under investigation.
